As you spoke of me once, I now speak of you Speak to you, through ages of time Wond’ring how far a message can travel If nature can carry it right to the stars – and beyond Far beyond all our knowledge Beyond any place human eyes ever saw Where no one shall see the past or the future All there is present, and all will be present The ones we have lost, the ones that have left us They live on in a space undefined A sign of their life, a signature, postcard, or poem perhaps, a poem for their thoughts Words they have spoken, dreams they have dreamt Memories, melodies, heavy, important You gave us freedom of speech long ago So now I can write whatever I want to And still in deciding the subject and matter I too must remember the unified men The women the same as their male counterparts Equal and perfect and ever divine As you spoke of me once, I now speak of you The past and the future, both yours and both mine.
